Happy Days Hero For Six-Pack

•October 11, 2008 • Leave a Comment

The six pack mania seems to be the best way for struggling stars to make a statement. What started as a song stunt by Shahrukh Khan has turned out to be a mass revolution and in no time al the young heroes right from Bollywood to stars in the south have taken to the six pack syndrome.

Now, another name is added into the list and this lad is none other than Nikhil who came up with an energetic performance in the blockbuster hit ‘Happy Days’. It is heard that Nikhil has begun working hard on his muscles and soon he wants to join the six pack league and flaunt his abs.

For now, Nikhil’s dance has been received well and with the addition of six packs to his credit, it remains to be seen if that will boost up his career graph. He is all set to arrive with his new movie ‘Yuvatha’ so the change in shape might just be obvious by then.

ARYA II is the only hope for director SUKUMAR to get back on track. He gave his one and only one success in ARYA. After that JAGADAM, also directed by him failed to click at the box office. And after a gap of 4 years… Sukumar has embarked upon making a sequel of the successful film. The star cast of the movie is lead by ALLU ARJUN, KAJAL AGARWAL and SHRADDHA ARYA. B V V S N PRASAD and ADITYA BABU are jointly producing this prestigious venture. Cinematography is being handled by R D RAJASEKHAR.

ARYA II

Although the Arya II was announced a while ago, the shooting of the movie is getting delayed due to the unavailability of the Cinematographer Rajasekhar. We just hope that the movie’s shooting starts as soon as possible and hopefully deliver a fantastic entertainer.

Can Prabhas Match Up To Ajith’s Style Factor In “Billa” Remake

•October 10, 2008 • Leave a Comment

BILLA, a Tamil Blockbuster, had AJITH to take care of the style factor. By the way, for any under informed fans… BILLA was a Tamil film starring AJITH KUMAR & NAYANATARA in the lead roles and was directed by VISHNU VARDHAN. A Telugu remake of this film, starring PRABHAS as the male lead and ANUSHKA SHETTY as the female lead, is being launched on 9th October on the eve of Vijaya Dasami. This, yet to be titled, movie would be directed by MEHER RAMESH (director of Kantri) under the banner of GOPI KRISHNA MOVIES.

According to some reports, a major part of this film will be featured in the locales of Malaysia and Korea. Meher Ramesh is currently enjoying these places to identify the locations. Although the other female lead is not yet finalized, most probably PRIYAMANI or BHAVANA might sign up.

Prabhas

The first and the foremost problem for Meher, would be to transform Prabhas in to a stylish dude who oozes sophistication. It is not a secret that last attempt by Prabhas to get stylized in MUNNA was a damp squib. Not only the movie was disastrously flop, he even received flak for his mismatch of LOOKS Vs ACCENT. For any good actor, voice is one of the most important asset. And only good actors can modulate their voice according to the character’s demands. Prabhas has been failing in this department by repeating the same modulation since his first film. I mean just imagine him with his native accent (yaasa) acting cool as Ajith in Billa… Laughable… Isn’t it? Lets hope that Prabhas would work hard on not just looks… but also his style and accent.

Just have a look at Ajith in the below photograph…

Marmayogi Scores A Boundary Of Heroines

•October 10, 2008 • Leave a Comment

MARMAYOGI is the most prestigious project ever made on Indian Celluloid which is a period movie and is budgeted Rs.100+ Crore. If that is not startling, then the cast will certainly do… Kamal Hassan, Shobhana, Hema Malini, Trisha and Shreya Saran in the lead. The rest of the cast is not yet finalized. As the movie is set mostly around 8th Century, veterans Hema Malini and Shobhana will portray the lead roles in that period. The modern era would serve as the platform for the other two heroines.

Kamal Hassan As Marmayogi

As usual with any kamal Hassan’s movie, this tri-lingual Marmayogi too is garnering some publicity owing to a new technique in make-up… Spray Make-Up. And according to the latest reports, some of the sequences of the film are going to be shot near Sivasamudram Waterfall in Mandya district of Karnataka and a few other exquisite locales.

Charmi Career Is On Fast Track

•October 10, 2008 • Leave a Comment

CHARMI is certainly one of the most successful heroines in recent times in Tollywood. She has proven time and again that she can carry an entire film on her shoulders which might not be possible for other actresses. She has a unique, naturally driven, instinctive quality in her acting that can do wonders when handled properly by the director. Anukokunda Oka Roju and Mantra in Telugu are good examples of her acting skills. But she can also over act in the regular commercial fare especially in Krishna Vamsi’s movies… she goes berserk.

CHARMI KAUR

Having great faith in her ability to act and also owing to her curves, a lot of producers queue up to sign her. At present, she has 16 Days ready for release in Tamil and Telugu apart from Kousalya Supraja Rama and Mayagadu in Telugu. Another film Manorama is also in the making. Once these are completed, there is another film in Telugu with Srikanth and Venu. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music for this film. This movie is being made in the Banner of Fame Entertainments which earlier produced Yamagola Malli Modalaindi.

‘Nenu Meeku Telusa’ Review: Technically Brilliant But Boring

•October 10, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Film: Nenu Meeku Telusa
My Rating: 2/5

Banner: Lakshmi Prasanna pictures
Cast: Manchu Manoj, Sneha Ullal, Riya Sen, Nasser, Sunil, Brahmanandam, Uttej, Thanikella and others
Music: Santosh – Shakti
Cinematography: Suneel Reddy
Director: Ajay Shastri
Producer: Lakshmi Prasanna
Release date: 10/10/2008

Story
A simple problem but quite complicated, the story is about Aditya (Manoj) who suffers from a problem, he does not remember what happened the day before or himself so he ensures that he switches on the tape recorder every morning he wakes up, this memory issue is due to an accident. The tape tells him not to discuss his problem with anyone and his uncle (Nasser) and doctor know the issue. Aditya works in the same company where his uncle is the MD but no one knows that relation too. He starts liking Madhumita (Riya) and she reciprocates his feelings. However, an incident takes place leaving his uncle dead and Aditya’s tape recorder also gets spoiled. He is arrested on charges of murder and for investigating the case, police officer Anjali (Sneha) arrives in the scene. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Manoj has surely gone through some rigorous training before he hit the screen and his efforts can be seen. However, there is still a glitch in his expressions at emotional scenes and his dialogue delivery. Sneha Ullal was absolutely stunning and fresh faced with her captivating eyes but then her hairstyle was hassled. Riya has proved why she is known as the sex kitten and despite no skin show she oozed out enough glamour and its all in her eyes and innocence. Brahmanandam was just okay, Sunil was regular, Nasser was professional, the others did their bit as required.

The director has come up with a modern presentation and he made best use of the graphics and the technical teams. However, he missed out on the focus of his story and especially the narrative, there was not enough magnetism to make the audience think and in mystery.

Music was above average, cinematography deserves full credit. Editing could have been sharp at few edges, the dialogues lacked punch and they were straight and simple, screenplay was excellent.

Highlights:
Technical brilliance with cinematography and graphics
Background Sound
Action Episodes
Manoj’s posture
Presence of Late Mallikarjuna Rao (a scene in court was shot with a substitute as he passed away while working for this film)
Manoj’s humorous imitation of Pokiri scene
Manoj imitating Mohan Babu

Drawbacks:
No comedy
No mass entertainment except an item song by Kousha
Very Class narration

Analysis
The first half of the film was more on the lighter side trying to introduce the characters to the audience but the second half is more on the murder plot and the flashback of romance. A lot of time was spent on these two aspects that the momentum required for a gripping climax was not there. In this age of IPODs and MP3s, using a tape recorder might be a bit old fashioned. The stunt sequences were good especially the chase sequence of Manoj where he does few Jackie Chan sequences. The mild pace of the movie dragged the energy out and though there were two hot girls to spice up the events, they were around in style and glamour but without enough oomph or passion in them.

The idea of coming up with the memory loss concept was good but then it was essential to include the commercial angles like the comedy and the content aspect which would be the revenue grosser. The technical side of the film is definitely worth a treat and this is actually a breath of fresh air when it comes to presentation. But that alone is not good enough to bring the audience, there needs to be a spine and that too a strong one which was missing. Since there are no mass elements, the makers need to focus on their promotion and publicity to make this a profitable affair.
